Problem

Today's cameras and social media encourage overconsumption and strip away intention, reducing photos to shareable content rather than meaningful reflections on life.

No Cost, No Value

Digital photos have no perceived cost, so we take endless amounts draining intention and value from each shot.

Performance Over Memory

Photos have shifted from personal reflection to social performance, optimized for sharing rather than remembering.

Phones Pull You Away

Shooting on your phone invites distraction, pulling you out of the very moment you meant to capture.

How Might We

use photos as a way to keep people present and intentional about how they live

Solution

When the shutter button is press it activaes the camera the the camera sends the image to the SD card. Once you hold the shutter button it starts the print process by sending the images to the printer PCB that uses thermal printing used in recipts

One button, no screen, and no settings

Forces you to be in moment instead of playing with settings

1 Physical print only

Once printed the digital file is permanently deleted from the camera.

24 hour lock before printing

Makes viewing the photos a moment for reflection.

How to use the Camera

Taking a Photo

  1. Press Shutter

  2. Actives camera

  3. Saves image to SD card

Printing Photos

  1. Hold Shutter for 3s

  2. Send images for SD to Printer PCB

  3. Print image on paper roll using thermal printing (used for recipts)

Software Image Processing

The photos are printed using thermal printing. This process creates an array of black and white dots to create multiple shades.
